FAQ
Your Journey to World-Class Healthcare in Turkey

At our Canada-based marketing and facilitation firm, we understand you have questions about seeking medical treatment abroad. We're here to provide clarity and ensure a smooth experience. Please remember, we are NOT a healthcare provider or consultancy; we connect you with accredited Turkish medical professionals and facilities.

Is medical tourism safe?

Turkey has emerged as a leading destination for medical tourism, with many private hospitals and clinics accredited by international organizations like the Joint Commission International (JCI). These accreditations signify adherence to rigorous international standards for patient safety and quality of care. Many Turkish medical professionals receive training at renowned institutions globally, and the country boasts advanced medical infrastructure and technology. However, like any medical procedure, there are inherent risks. We strongly advise thorough research into the specific hospital and doctor, and we facilitate access to facilities with proven track records.

How do I choose the right doctor/hospital in Turkey?

This is where our expertise comes in. We act as your bridge to world-class healthcare. We work with a curated network of globally renowned and high-quality hospitals and doctors in Turkey. We help you by:

  • Providing comprehensive information: We offer details about the accreditations, specialties, and patient testimonials of our partner institutions.

  • Facilitating consultations: We can arrange initial virtual consultations with potential doctors to discuss your needs and treatment plans.

  • Matching your needs: Based on your specific medical requirements and preferences, we connect you with the most suitable specialists and facilities.

  • Highlighting credentials: We focus on hospitals with international accreditations and doctors with impressive qualifications and experience.

What about language barriers?

Many top hospitals and clinics in Turkey that cater to international patients have dedicated "International Patient Services" departments with English-speaking staff and readily available interpreters. The Turkish Ministry of Health also offers a 24/7 language support service for medical tourists in various languages. We prioritize connecting you with facilities that ensure clear and effective communication throughout your journey.

What is the typical recovery time?

Recovery time varies significantly depending on the specific medical procedure, your individual health, age, and adherence to post-operative instructions. Your chosen doctor in Turkey will provide a personalized recovery plan and advise on the expected duration of your stay in Turkey for optimal healing and follow-up. We encourage you to discuss your recovery expectations thoroughly during your initial consultations.

Do you assist with visas?

While we are not a visa-issuing authority, we can provide general guidance and information regarding visa requirements for Canadian and US citizens traveling to Turkey for medical purposes. For most North American travelers with ordinary passports, a visa is generally NOT required for short-term tourist or business stays up to 90 days within a 180-day period (as of early 2024). However, for longer stays or specific medical visas, we can direct you to official resources like the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the nearest Turkish embassy/consulate to obtain the most up-to-date and accurate information and application procedures. It is always recommended to check these official sources well in advance of your travel.

What are the payment options?

Payment options will be discussed directly with the chosen hospital or clinic in Turkey. Generally, medical facilities in Turkey accept various payment methods, including major credit cards, debit cards, and bank transfers. Some clinics may also offer all-inclusive packages. We will ensure you receive clear information regarding costs and payment procedures before your travel.

What if there are complications?

While we strive to connect you with highly reputable facilities and professionals, medical procedures inherently carry risks. In the rare event of complications, the hospital and its medical team will be responsible for providing the necessary immediate care. It is crucial to have comprehensive travel insurance that includes medical coverage for unexpected complications and emergency medical repatriation. We encourage you to thoroughly review your insurance policy before travel. We will provide you with the contact details of the hospital's international patient department, which is equipped to handle such situations.

Is my personal medical information kept confidential?

Turkish law, similar to many international standards, mandates patient privacy and confidentiality. Hospitals and medical professionals in Turkey are legally bound to protect your personal medical information. We ensure our partner facilities adhere to strict confidentiality protocols.

What documents do I need for travel and treatment?

Generally, for travel and treatment, you will need:

  • A valid passport: Ensure it has at least six months' validity beyond your intended departure date from Turkey.

  • Flight tickets and accommodation details: Proof of your travel itinerary and where you will be staying.

  • Medical reports and records: Bring all relevant medical history, diagnostic test results, and current prescriptions. This is crucial for your Turkish medical team to understand your condition fully.

  • Invitation/Acceptance letter from the Turkish hospital: This document confirms your scheduled treatment and is often required for visa purposes (if applicable).

  • Proof of financial means: To cover your medical expenses and stay.

  • Comprehensive travel insurance: Essential for unexpected medical emergencies or complications.

We will provide a detailed checklist of necessary documents specific to your chosen treatment and travel plans as we facilitate your connection with the Turkish medical facility.

Do North American Travelers Need a Visa for Turkey?

For travelers from Canada and the United States with ordinary passports, a visa is generally NOT required for short-term tourist or business stays up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This policy was implemented in early 2024, simplifying travel to Turkey for most North Americans.

Key points to remember:

  • Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date from Turkey. It should also have blank pages for entry and exit stamps.

  • Purpose of Travel: The visa exemption applies to tourism and short-term business purposes. If you plan to stay longer than 90 days, or if your purpose of travel is for work, study, or other specific reasons, you will need to apply for a different type of visa through a Turkish embassy or consulate before your trip.

  • Transit: You do not need a visa to transit through Turkish airports if you do not leave the transit zone.

  • Proof of Travel: While not always requested, it's advisable to carry an extra ID, a return flight ticket, and proof of accommodation, as immigration officers may ask for these upon arrival.
